I have just found out about this devastating news, and I am deeply saddened.

Jurgen was an amazing person. He was my friend across the ocean. We used to exchange messages, especially around Christmas, which was also his birthday. The last time we spoke, in February 2024, he was excited about his new life in the UAE.

We met in 2014 in Lugano, at the Modularity conference. I was nervous and afraid to present my work, and he gave me emotional support throughout that week. From then on, we became friends.

He used to say that one day he would like to come to Brazil.

I just wanted you to know that wherever Jurgen went, he planted seeds of friendship, kindness, and support. He touched lives far beyond borders, and I will always remember him with great affection and gratitude.

My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

het is niet normaal dat kinderen voor hun ouders deze wereld verlaten. En dan nog zo plots en ver van huis. Woorden kunnen wellicht jullie gevoelens niet weergeven en troost is nu moeilijk. Moge de goede herinneringen aan Jurgen voor jullie en allen die hem kenden een troost zijn. Veel sterkte de komende tijd.
